The power of social competence - A look at Julian Nagelsmann

“Thirty percent of coaching is tactics, 70% social competence,” Julian Nagelsmann  told Süddeutsche Zeitung in August How far can having miraculously good 'social competence' take you towards reaching success?  Well, why not take Julian Nagelsmann as a case study. If you're oblivious to Nagelsmann's achievements, he is currently the manager of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and the youngest Bundesliga head coach ever. At 31 years old, his reputation around world football is growing and his Hoffenheim side are currently chilling in 8th place in the Bundesliga. Hoffenheim themselves, have experienced a significant turnaround since promoting Nagelsmann to head coach in 2016, they were sitting in the relegation zone and were many people’s favourites for relegation. However, through the development and success of players like Roberto Firmino, Kevin Volland and Nicolas Sule, the club soon found themselves pushing into the Bundesliga top half within the following season.  ...
