He leaves when he wants!

Arsenal's recent troubles seem to be neverending as today it has been revealed that Theo Walcott is become tempted to walk out the Arsenal door following the footsteps of Van Persie.

Let's start off with RvP who has decided to leave the Gunners after 8 years with the club. He released a statement on his personel website stating that he won't be signing a new contract with Arsenal. In his satement he stated that...

"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the Boss and Mr. Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club’s future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all."

"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days."

Now the way I see this is that he doesn't think that the team is good enough to win trophies. Which at the moment it is hard to disagree with him on that. Surely though that is a bit of a blow to the team to be told by the club captain and leading scorer at the club that your not good enough to win trophies? Not even the Carling Cup!
Arsenal do have many young talents which they rely on in their squad and players like Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski joining. On paper Arsenal will be more of a attacking force this season. Not including injured Jack Wilshere returning which will be a massive boost for the Gunners. And lets not forget about the EURO 2012 Danish suprise... Nicklas Bendtner returning. Or Arsenal's ever so dominant Brazilian maestro, Denilson, who really was overshadowed by Cesc Fabregas last season and will come back to really frighten other teams in the Premier League...Not.

Another intersting part though of the statement made by RvP is where he sais that "Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed" which if true really is worrying for Arsenal fans. It's worrying because whatever Mr Wenger and Mr Gazidis must have said to RvP it must have shown really low ambitions for the future of Football Club. IF the ambitions at Arsenal Football Club are really that low then why on earth would RvP want to stay? Every football player has only one thing on their mind when it comes to Football which is winning. If Arsenal's ambitions are as low as just aiming for the top four every season then there is no suprise that players will want to leave. And where is the Cheif Excutive Ivan Gazidis when all this is going on? On holiday which I find unbelieveable. He knows that two of his best players RVP and Walcott may be leaving Arsenal soon so instead of trying to get them to sign deals after the Euro's he goes on Holiday. It is one of the few jobs a cheif executive must have at Arsenal...


After this simply amazing turn of events at Arsenal one of the majoity shareholders at Arsenal, billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who owns an estimated 39% of Arsenal came out and made a statement about how he is unhappy with all the goings on at Arsenal regarding the Van Persie situation. Also kind of taking on the role of really speaking for the fans who are probably still angry over the whole situation. So they should be.
Infact Uzmanov has gone as far as to say that he wants to increase his shares in Arsenal and takeover from Chairman David Dein which would make Arsenal the second richest club in England behind Man City where RvP could soon end up.


Now Arsenal have to put up with the news that Theo Walcott also wants out seing as RvP has left. Which I think is because he doesn't want the pressure on him after RvP has gone because who will Arsenal fans turn to for Goals in the team? Theo Walcott. Personelly I think unlike RvP, Theo Walcott would struggle in most teams at the level simply because of how easily teams like Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid will get frustrated with his mistakes and will be forced to be used as the "impact substitute" because of his pace. I can see RvP fitting in somewhere like Real Madrid but I don't think this will happen as he will probably end up rotting at Man City with Samir Nasri. Theo Walcott on the other I can see at Chelsea but then I would ask myself.. Why would Chelsea want him? My friend suggested Aston Villa which is possible but wouldn't that be a step down for Theo? Or maybe Tottenham or is Walcott too loyal and besides, Lennon and Walcott? Really?

Although this evening after having a look on my Twitter I discovered that Barcalona may be ready to buy RvP and swap David Villa + 13m in return which would be a fantastic deal for Arsenal and Barcalona. Although David Villa is starting to age being 30 now. It wouldn't be a signing for the future for Arsenal.

Thinking about the tactics of Arsenal... Could RvP and Walcott leaving be beneficial to the team? It gives Wenger the chance to break out of this useless 4-3-3 system which clearly doesn't work for Arsenal and never has. What have they won when playing 4-3-3? The last trophy Arsenal won was the FA cup of which they won by playing 4-4-2.
Who do Arsenal think they are... Barcalona? Probably. The 4-4-2 formation could benefit the likes of Giroud who may not have the pace to play in a 4-3-3 formation.

Intersting times are ahead for the Gunners. Arsenal fans stay positive.
