Scott Parker
Scott Parker. Would he last?
Im sure most of you have heard about the rumours ever surrouding West Ham's relegated captain Scott Parker. No doubt will he be one of the first ones to leave. However the big question is where? Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal all look interested in the West Ham skipper who is reportedly worth 10m. Is this a reasonable price for a player that has just been relegated? maybe he is overated.
Scott is a player who has been consistantly West Ham's star performer but would he last in a top premier league side like your Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, or Liverpool? After comming through the gears at Charlton and then being snapped up at Chelsea where he failed to really nail down a place in a strong Chelsea side that was no doubt at it's peak, Scott stood out as a player to watch for me at
Newcastle where he spent 2 successful seasons where I thought he was under rated in a poor Newcastle side at the time. Scott then made the switch to West Ham where he began to come into his element and find a role that was perfect for him. A tough tackling, whole hearted midfielder many West Ham fans will say he was a great signing and a fantastic leader to the club.
But do teams like Arsenal need a leader like Scott Parker? Would he work well along side Steven Gerrard at Liverpool? Could he hold down a regular starting place at Spurs? Can he stand out playing in the same team with top notch players like Fabregas, Modric and Yaya Toure? He may have proven himself in a West Ham side and a perhaps regular for England at the age of 30. Players that have struggled to hold down players in these sides are Jermaine Jenas, Yossi Benayoun and Robbie Keane (when he was at Liverpool) but can Scott Parker do the buiseness for top six club. Which ever move he will make from West Ham he will certainly be one to look out for.
