What happened FA-bio?
you may have already heard this evening but...
England manager Fabio Capello has resigned as England head coach following the recent John Terry captaincy saga.
The 65 year old Italian had a meeting with the FA this afternoon which went on for over an hour and ended up with a written resignation from Mr Capello before leaving Wembley as England manager for the last time.
below is a statement released by David Bernstein and the Club England Management team
“I would like to stress that during today’s meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future ".
The FA's statement continued: "The discussions focused on the FA Board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview.."
Fabio Capello did issue a statement after the meeting with the FA saying...
So lets take your minds right back to when Fabio Capello first become manager of England.
Capello had put his name in for the England job shortly after the sacking of "walley with the brolley" Steve McLaren ( I won't bore you by talking about where he went wrong!) and Capello soon got the job on a contract that would last 4 years and earn him a annual salary of 6 million. Soon after becoming the manager of England Capello then went on to say that this job would be his last in his career (he being 62 at the time of the appointment). Capello would also go on to say that this job was a "dream come true" but maybe he wasn't prepared for all the massive ego's and personalities that the England job also comes with nowadays.
After a rather embarrassing and disappointing 2010 World Cup which included a 4-1 drubbing by arch rivals Germany to knock England out the tournament. A embarrassing day for everyone associated with English Football especially after a great qualification which only included one loss out of 10 games to Ukraine. Pressure grew on Capello but he insisted that new talent, new blood and new success was on the horizon and with a fabulous EURO 2012 Qualification with some new English talent including Jack Wilshere, Gary Cahill, Joe Hart, Jack Rodwell along with many others the EURO's were looking optimistic for England.
So did the Football Association make the right decision over removing the Captaincy from John Terry?
Was Fabio Capello wrong to back John Terry and go against the FA?
Have the FA ruined OUR National Team's chances of winning the EURO's?
I do think both Capello and the FA dealt with the whole situation wrongly.
In my opinion the FA have dealt a huge blow to England's EURO 2012 success hopes. We know that Fabio Capello's contract was going to expire after the EURO's so why make a hash of the whole situation now?
The fact that Fabio Capello had no say over the whole John Terry captaincy for England saga is wrong from the start. Surely this just a huge lack of trust in England's manager. What England fans may find even more frustrating is that John Terry hasn't even been proven guilty!
In my eyes the player is innocent until proven guilty. Also with an FA that is willing to overhaul any managers decisions who would want the England job?
However although I just had a big dig at the FA I think that at the same time Fabio Capello should not have come out and go against the FA by backing his captain. Capello did not need in anyway to come out and say that the FA go a particular decision wrong. There aren't many jobs in the World where you can accuse your employers of getting a decision wrong and Football is not one of them.
Both parties are in the wrong.

"I thought it was right that Terry should keep the captain's armband," said the 65-year-old, whose first game in charge was on 6 February 2008, against Switzerland.
"I have spoken to the [FA] chairman and I have said that in my opinion one cannot be punished until it is official and the court - a non-sport court, a civil court - had made a decision to decide if John Terry has done what he is accused of."
