England Possibilities for Euro 2012

So England have no manager, no captain, no heart going into this up-coming Euro2012 Tournament. It is a nation that needs complete re-building from top to bottom. Which is why it is surely important to introduce Harry Redknapp as England manager sooner then later. But then again why Harry? Why not Alan Pardew for the work he has done at Wolves? Why not someone like Terry Venables? Although my personnel favourite to get the job is Ian Holloway which I think we know will NOT happen.  Whoever gets will have a huge task on their hands in employing some new tactics, new staff,new captain, new philosophy to the England side. Harry Redknapp can do all of that well and knows certain players and knows how to get the best out of them. The job he has done at Tottenham is incredible conjuring up a nearly 50% win percentage since he has been there. So surely there is only one man for the England job?

Now if I asked you to name the current England Starting XI without any injuries or anything the majority will probably get it wrong. Some would say No to Lampard, No to Gerrard, No to Rooney, No to Terry although in some areas in the England team... Who else is there?
England have already lost Wayne Rooney for being petulant and we are now really stuck for who should play up front for England. Yes we have Welbeck, Campbell, Carroll Agbonlahor, Holt, Defoe and Crouch but are they really good enough? Between them they have notched up just over 40 goals for the National Team and three quarters of them have been scored by Peter Crouch! So why not play someone like Walcott upfront? pacey, skilful, good movement, good finishing and has already been in-bedded in the England set up. We all know that English Football needs to be rebuilt from GrassRoots upwards which unfortunately take time but like the Germans, Spanish and Netherlands are showing it is definitely worth it.

Maybe the FA were to hasty in sacking Capello. After all his record was played 42 won 28 drawn 8 and lost 6 which is surely is a phenomenal record? England desperately need a trophy.  We know that. Wayne Rooney is our supposed talisman and has 28 goals in 73 games which simply isn't good enough in my opinion if your the talisman of English Football. Look at Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Van Persie and Rooney for me doesn't come close to any of them. Maybe a new manager will be exactly what this lad needs?

There are some positives about England though. There is some young talent coming through like Jack Wilshere, Jack Rodwell, Victor Moses, Tom Cleverly, Alex Oxlade-Chainberlain, Daniel Sturridge, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and the list could go on which is a real positive. Whether they can make a difference to England is another matter.
